Academic and Qualifications Offer
At The Lady Byron School, we believe that every young person deserves an education that recognises their strengths, nurtures their interests and prepares them for a successful future. Our personalised curriculum is designed to ensure that students leave us with recognised qualifications, increased confidence and the knowledge and skills they need for further education, employment and independent living.
GCSE Qualifications
Students have the opportunity to study a range of nationally recognised GCSE qualifications. We offer the core subjects of:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Combined Science (Trilogy)
- Citizenship
In addition, we may be able to offer further GCSE subjects based on student interests, aspirations and cohort demand. Our curriculum continues to evolve to meet the needs of our students, ensuring they are able to access qualifications that support their future pathways wherever possible.
As a registered AQA examination centre, students complete their examinations in a familiar, supportive environment with staff who know them well. This reduces anxiety, provides consistency and enables students to perform to the best of their ability.
Functional Skills Qualifications
Not every student follows the same educational pathway. We recognise that students achieve success in different ways and offer a range of nationally recognised qualifications to meet individual needs.
Functional Skills qualifications in English and Mathematics develop essential literacy and numeracy skills for everyday life, further education and employment. These practical qualifications focus on applying knowledge in real-life situations, helping students build confidence, independence and readiness for adulthood.
For students who benefit from a more accessible route into science, we also offer AQA Entry Level Science. This qualification develops scientific knowledge through practical investigation and real-world application, providing an excellent foundation for future learning while allowing students to achieve a recognised qualification that reflects their individual abilities.
NCFE Vocational Qualifications
As a registered NCFE centre, we offer a growing range of vocational and creative qualifications that allow students to develop practical skills alongside academic learning.
Depending on student interests and cohort demand, opportunities may include qualifications in areas such as:

- Music Technology
- Creative Media
- Sport
- Food Technology
- Employability and Personal Development
These qualifications enable students to explore their talents, develop industry-relevant skills and achieve nationally recognised accreditation, while helping them discover potential career pathways and develop transferable skills for adult life.
With the opening of our Blaby school site, we are excited to further expand our vocational curriculum. Our vision is to provide students with access to an even broader range of practical learning experiences and industry-recognised qualifications that prepare them for employment, apprenticeships and further education.

ASDAN Programmes
We also offer a range of ASDAN programmes and Short Courses, providing flexible, personalised learning opportunities that celebrate achievement beyond traditional academic qualifications.
